C Parsons says:

I DID NOT SAY BELLY DANCING ORIGINATED IN CHICAGO
IF YOU CAN’T READ, DON’T COMMENT

C Parsons says:

OMG–reread my comment–I said the AMERICAN ENGLISH TERM — NOT the dance originated in Chicago
HEY PEOPLE–make your comments but stop using REPLY
I am SICK of the REALLY REALLY STUPID COMMENTS IN MY EMAIL

Manar Fikry says:

I’m shocked that you change the history of belly dancing. It is originated from Egypt, not Chicago.

C Parsons says:

and I am loving her costume

C Parsons says:

there are plenty of nasty comments on here to pick on
I actually really liked this performance
you must be truly full of hate to find something so negative in my comment

C Parsons says:

wow–what a really nasty, ugly, hateful comment for just telling a little history–what is wrong with all you people? I am a dancer–I was not complaining about anything

Southern00Bohemian says:

I got a cramp in my side just watching her.

blfl hajar says:

just go kill ur self with ur nonsence history please … thank you 🙂

C Parsons says:

the term “belly dance” came from the 1936 Chicago World’s fair, and those women mainly did not expose their stomachs. However, when it is actually a lot of the hip movements that make the belly move. Pronounced belly movements and all the bare skin were not typical until much later.

CallMeJoanna says:

where can i find this mp3?

Danielle Walsh says:

I am shocked people criticize this woman. She is a beautiful woman and dancer. She makes it look easy… That’s it! It is super hard to do… It takes a lot of control and presence to dance like this. There will always be better but she danced from her heart. That’s what’s important!

FIREYICEangel says:

Shes good but shes not great

TheWildScarletRose says:

Well, I ‘ve heard that this happened in America…I don’t know about names, but in antiquity, fertility dances were giving importance for sure to the women’s belly, in all over east mediterrenean and middle eastern countries. No one can tell if they were the same with the belly dancing we see today, but I am sure they have certain similarities…
*I am sorry in case you can’t make out what I am trying to say, English is not my first language!:)

TheWildScarletRose says:

Very good, although too sexualized…And the beginning with that stripper-like dressed woman introducing her was just awful…

TheWildScarletRose says:

I agree with you, but allow me to add something. If I am not mistaken, “belly dancing” was a term used to describe this dance when it was first brought to America. They called it like this because of the fact that the dancers’ bellies were shown, and this didn’t happen in any other dance back then, and was considered kind of provocative…It was something that had to do with the dancing costume, if I understood well, not with the moves or the size of the dancers’ bellies…

MoneyMonster0000 says:

gud job

Tracey Johnson says:

I love this video, can you please tell me what the name is of the second song?

Rogata5000 says:

It’s wonderful, I can hardly believe one can do such things with his body. Harmony, perfection, beauty… It’s all in you 🙂

E.B. Wood says:

Wow…It was like her body was the music 🙂 Beautiful!

RAY777894 says:

Grateful to you for the researched out explanation. Really. It’s useful to know such details.

aameen alamdi says:

Viketoy says:

aisiktir weee 😀 kurti mivki taq

GeordieTerrier says:

If you notice it says vintage style, I believe that to mean a pseudo-belly dance, basically it’s what the movies used to use back in the day. Personally I think the technique isn’t too bad for not actually a belly dancer, she’d have the potential if someone’d teach her the real deal.

GeordieTerrier says:

Looked up Yassmin. Guess what? She’s got more belly fat on her than this girl. Also I’ve seen 6 real Egyptian dancers listed as particularly good and they have more fat than this girl. It’s wrong for you all to have a go at this girl for being ‘fat’ when she’s got a stunning figure. Her technique may be lacking but she is not a bad figure. Not to mention no one can pinpoint where bellydance originated only that EVERYONE did it, not just ‘perfect’ figures.

EmpressMV says:

Nice job, very pretty interpretaion.

EmpressMV says:

I noticed that the famous dancers are not just “any size and shape”. They all have nice bodies , in good shape and pretty figures.

Mushvan90 says:

Like this <3 she is amazing

Znophobia says:

What the hell was that? People call that belly dancing?! Put on a belly dancing costume, use a veil, and you think you’re a belly dancer? No talent in this girl. None whatsoever.

pianolady19 says:

Wonderful dancing! I love the hip work you do…you’re so flexible!

pianolady19 says:

“Tainted”? Screw that kind of ignorant attitude. It doesn’t matter what you think is the “ideal figure on a woman” or if you think fat people are “tainted” or messy. You’re wrong.

pianolady19 says:

There is no “supposed”…the best part of belly dance is how inclusive it is. It doesn’t matter if you’re really big or thin as a rail or somewhere in between…anyone can do it and look beautiful.

Раиса Кувшинникова says:

пРЕВОСХОДНОО!!!

Hannah Tijani says:

it originated in north africa(egypt) my homeland.
but bellydancers’ figure is a tiny waist, wide hips, big butt and full breasts..check out yassmin the russian, alla the ukranian,maria,etc..and the arab dancers as well..not only is that the ideal figure on a woman it helps the movement be graceful thin ppl have to pad and give the illusion of fake curves…while obese dancers look a mess.just like ballet dancers are petite, bellydance shouldnt be tainted.

Hannah Tijani says:

its called bellydance..yes,but ur not suppossed to have an fat stomach!
